We host nine internal competitions each season, as well has participating in several external competitions. It can a daunting prospect to put your images forward for open critique and judging, however this is an excellent way to learn how to improve your photography.

All of our competitions are judged by judges affiliated with the PAGB and come from outside our club.

We have a set of rules that govern our competitions.

Internal League Competitions

The internal league competition consists of six rounds and is open to all paid up members. There are three set subject rounds and three open rounds, alternating between the two. In every round there is a print section, a PDI section and a non-scoring PDI critique only round where the judge will be asked to ‘judge with comment only’ and award no scores.

Members may enter a maximum of 4 entries into each round, with a maximum of two scoring prints and two scoring PDIs entered. Up to 4 non-scoring PDI can be entered into the critique only round as long as the members' entries do not exceed 4.

Each image is given a score out of 20 and the best score for each member in each round is totalled up with the member with the highest score for prints and for digital images awarded the club prizes. A mono competition is also run alongside the internal competition.

Once the season is underway, winning and highly commended images will be added to the competition gallery. 

Other Internal Competitions

Further competitions during the year include the Phil Atkinson Versatility challenge, the Creative Digital,  and the Annual Open Competition.
