News - Report: Annual Dinner
![]()
12 January 2012
Annual dinner, not to be confused of course with a Christmas dinner, mainly because it's in January! Last Thursday saw a return visit to the Cock Hotel in Stony Stratford following last years successful annual dinner and those members who turned out hopefully weren't disappointed with the spread laid on by the folks at the Cock. Even finding out at the last minute that we were to share the hall with another party didn't dampen the spirits.
On arrival everyone found their way through to the function room at the rear of the hotel and found the tables set and bedecked with streamers, party hats and crackers. Drinks were duly purchased and seats at table found, ready for the food to arrive. As with last year each of the courses were delivered with speed and efficiency and the empty plates were cleared away with equal efficiency. The food once again was very good, with portions sufficient to satiate even the fiercest of appetites.
Once the three courses had been devoured, the crackers cracked and each and every hat worn, the evening continued with a disco and several members were spotted strutting their stuff on the dance floor, though Darren and Karen waited for everyone else to leave before apparently giving the contestants from Strictly Come Dancing a run for their money! Overall the evening was a success and a great way to start the year and special thanks should go to Rory and to Jenny for getting everything organised.
Next Week
We will be running the first of what I hope will become a regular annual competition, the Phil Atkinson Versatility Challenge Trophy Competition. The competition is being run over 5 rounds and at the last count we had 15 entries which means Nigel will have to battle his way through 75 images to find the overall winner!
The following week is the fourth round of our Internal Competition, which means that this week is the closing date for entries! So please make sure that you have your entries ready to hand to Clive when you arrive. The fourth round is the second of the set subject rounds and the subject this time round is 'Should Have Been Deleted' (how the hell did we end up with that!)
That's all for now folks, see you tomorrow night for the new competition.
